How We Shape Community

Community is about far more than masterplans, home designs, and amenities. It's about people...people connecting with each other and enjoying rich relationships, opportunities and activities. It's about families having a place to thrive.

The way we see it, when the building is complete, the living is just beginning. So we take time to consider not just how our communities will look and the cost to complete them, but how they will live.

Each community we create is unique in character and carries a certain sense of place... so we don't try to make them all the same.

1. Value People & Process, Not Just the Finish Line
It's not just what we do; it's how we do it and who we are along the way. The community development process is complex. It requires sustained commitment over a significant period of time. Therefore, we find it especially important to treat all involved with uncommon kindness as well as professionalism along the way. This may be as simple as an extra smile, staying late to help someone finish a project or simply doing what we say. Because we value our employees and their families, we promote a healthy balance of work and family time.
2. Little Things Make a Big Difference
It's not one person, feature or plan that makes a community special. Rather, it is a wonderfully diverse blend of little things that alone don't seem so grand, but together create something remarkable. It may be unique indirect lighting on a walking trail, a special touch on a community recreation center or the style of street signs in the neighborhood. In each of our communities, we try to include a few pleasant surprises and special touches for residents to discover while living there. We achieve this through proactive planning and by paying careful attention to detail.
3. Deliver Exceptional Quality & Innovation
Excellence matters and we are committed to it. Exceptional quality is not a matter of simply doing what is expected. Nor is it a matter of overdoing something to the point of extravagance. It means constantly improving our processes and ourselves that little bit extra to create developments of distinction. It means remaining committed to discovering new and innovative ways of doing things. This is a fundamental part of our everyday practice rather than a discretionary option, vital to every function within our organization.
4. Create Lasting Value

Far too often, developers are notorious for taking a short-sighted view of the development process, cutting corners and declaring success simply when the last piece is sold. Although being ‘sold out' is part of being successful, we believe that the ultimate success lies in creating communities that continue to thrive, year after year. Therefore we have a multigenerational vision and take great pride in not just shaping communities for today, but shaping communities for the future.
5. Encourage Collaboration
The number of professionals, agencies and team members involved in planning, building and managing an entire community is a remarkable thing. We take our leadership role in this process very seriously, but we are far from alone. Because the development process requires the efforts and inputs of so many parties, teamwork that goes beyond company boundaries is essential to success. Rather than simply promoting self interests, we promote open discussions and strategic alliances for the good of all. We see ourselves as bridge builders to the future and therefore prioritize creating an atmosphere of positive collaboration.
6. Take the High Road
Real Estate development is a wonderful challenge with significant rewards and intense pressures. It is not always easy to do the right thing for the right reasons, but that is exactly how we intend to conduct ourselves. Keeping our word and commitments is vitally important to us, no matter whether some may call it old-fashioned. At the heart of Vision First is the sincere desire to invest not only the gifts we have been given, but exercise the character that should go with them. That means making tough calls when it counts and finding solutions to difficult problems through fair, open communication.
7. Give Back to the Community
We pass through this life but once and so intend to invest ourselves in things that matter. Giving, whether it be time, talent or resources is something we believe in and promote at the corporate as well as individual level. We also encourage outside organizations to join with us in supporting worthy causes. This may mean volunteering in the community, sharing our expertise, or even sponsoring non-profit initiatives we believe in. Through these efforts we are committed to making a difference in our own communities, the local area and even beyond.
